EVOLUTIONARY lessons saw youngsters swap lounging about with learning.
More than 20 pupils from Newstead Wood School and The Priory School, Orpington; Charles Darwin School, Biggin Hill, and Langley Park School, Beckenham, spent eight days on a Darwin-themed summer course.
They visited Down House and Downe Bank in Downe, the wildlife garden and herbarium at the National History Museum, south-west London, and the home of the world seed bank in Wakehurst Place, West Sussex.
The aim of the course was to give the pupils, aged from 11 to 14, an insight into his method of working and how he used his environment to develop his theories.
Newstead Wood School deputy headteacher Christine Lloyd said: "We were delighted with the way the students rose to the challenge of the course.
"This is certainly a theme which inspires learning."
