A TORY councillor has announced his intention to run for London Mayor in the 2008 election.
Councillor Simon Fawthrop, of Petts Wood and Knoll ward, is hoping to get his party's nomination and is pledging to make sure Londoners get a fair deal. He said: "I want a London Mayor who works for the local communities.
"For example the current mayor's question times are held only twice a year and I would intend to treble this because what people think matters.
"At the moment everything is dictated from the centre, which often means individual communities are overlooked as they do not fall within the mayor's priorities."
Cllr Fawthrop, who is married with two children, was elected to represent Petts Wood in May after previously being a councillor in Lambeth.
