A SHOP owner has received a two-year conditional discharge in relation to flytipping.
Sotirakis Zacharias, of Beadon Road, Bromley, was found guilty of failing to exercise a duty of care by using an unlicensed contractor to remove old photocopier parts. He had denied the charge.
Following his appearance at Bromley Magistrates' Court, Zacharias was also ordered to pay £525 in costs.
Other items of metal and electrical waste from his shop, Apex Office Solutions in Peckham, were also found dumped in Crown Ash Hill, Biggin Hill.
The court heard the waste was discovered during a routine Bromley Council inspection.
It also emerged a Southwark Council officer had questioned a man in the process of removing the waste the previous week.
Zacharias was then warned to only use authorised waste carriers but still chose to employ an unlicensed contractor.
Anyone found using an unlicensed contractor to remove waste which is then dumped, risks prosecution for flytipping and is liable for removal costs.
