A DINNER lady has been inspired by a celebrity chef to keep it healthy when it comes to school meals.
Jamie Oliver campaigned to bring healthy eating into schools last year by setting up the Feed Me Better Campaign.
Kent County Council (KCC) trained eight dinner ladies as part of its healthy schools programme inspired by the campaign.
Dinner lady Janet Thorn, from Rowhill School, Stock Lane, Dartford, was presented with a certificate after completing a 19-week course.
She is one of the first people in the county to have completed the course, which focuses on traditional cooking.
Mrs Thorn was taught how to make food such as fresh bread, puddings, pasta and traditional roasts to serve at the school.
KCC vice chairman Councillor Leyland Ridings presented Mrs Thorn with her certificate.
He said: "This new scheme will mean dinner ladies have the essential skills they need."
