AN APPLICATION for a pub to serve alcohol until 4.30am on Saturdays is being opposed by residents.
On August 17, Lewisham Council's licensing committee will decide whether to grant Albertine's pub on Lewisham Way, Brockley, the extended opening hours.
Fourteen objections have been received from residents who say they are already disturbed by drinkers at the pub.
They fear the extra hours will increase the chance of crime and disorder and prove a threat to public safety.
Currently the bar holds a licence to serve alcohol until 1am from Sunday to Thursday and 2.30am on Fridays and Saturdays.
Applicants Paul Downie and Michelle Brown have also applied to serve late-night refreshments until 1.30am from Sunday to Thursday, 3am on Fridays and 5am on Saturdays.
They would implement CCTV cameras, employ security and provide a freefone minicab facility if the application is granted.
