POLICE officers have confiscated 25 mini-motos being ridden illegally.
The Shooters Hill safer neighbourhood team has been trying to make the area safer for residents by confiscating the bikes.
And the team has also been delivering leaflets to inform parents of the dangers of the miniature motorcycles.
Those caught riding bikes illegally could be awarded penalty points and if they do not have a driving licence the points will be added when they do get one.
Sergeant Dale Openshaw said: "The recent publicity about these machines has helped our cause in trying to make the streets safer for our residents.
"We have a duty to fulfil in dealing with the nuisance caused by illegal bikes, to say nothing of the number of young lives which might have been saved."
