A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD former cancer sufferer could meet Father Christmas in Lapland if enough money is raised from a charity fundraiser.

Insurance broker Kellie Risby is organising a wedding dress ball to raise money for her niece Demie Risby who is in remission from neuroblastoma, a rare childhood cancer of the nervous system.

The event will give brides the opportunity to wear their dresses again or provide a chance to dress up in a ball gown or frock for those who have yet to walk down the aisle. The men will be wear dinner suits.

The 28-year-old, of Finchley Close, Dartford, said: "I wanted to raise money for Demie to treat her to meet Father Christmas in Lapland.

"Her little body has been through so much but she never complained and handled it like a real trooper. We could certainly learn a thing or two."

Demie, from Tunbridge Wells, was diagnosed in April and has undergone chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

The fundraiser, which is aiming to raise £8,000 to £10,000, will collect money for the Neuroblastoma Cancer Society and the children's unit at the Royal Marsden Hospital where Demie was treated.

The event will be held on September 16 at restaurant complex High Rocks in Tunbridge Wells.
