ICE and snow are still causing disruptions to public transport and problems with roads and schools. But they are not expected to be as severe as during the previous three days of the big freeze.
Weather
Wintry weather is still with us but it is set to get a little warmer over the next few days.
Today the temperature will remain at around -4C although it is not expected to snow and the temperature will rise to -1C by 9pm.
The mercury will rise to a balmy 3C on Saturday and Sunday although it is forecast to get colder again by Sunday night when it will dip to -5C.
Travel
Drivers are advised to check the weather forecast and road conditions for your journey before travelling.
Make sure you have full visibility before driving, taking time to de-mist and de-ice all windows and lights on the vehicle.
Snow should be removed from your vehicle's roof etc. before travelling.
Poor weather conditions mean it can be harder for drivers to see, so use your lights.
When the roads are wet and icy it can take twice as long to stop your vehicle, so slow down.
In poor visibility be extra alert for hazards.
Carry warm waterproof clothing, food, water and a torch in your vehicle in case weather conditions mean you have to stop.
Make sure you have plenty of fuel for your journey before you set off.
Pedestrians and cyclists, be vigilant and make sure you can be seen however you are travelling - this includes using lights and wearing high visibility clothing.
Buses
Many routes are getting back to normal as the snow and ice are less severe than in previous days.
Rail
Snow and ice still covers much of the Southern network.
As a result the train company is operating a revised timetable with a reduced service running on a limited number of routes.
Southeastern is running a very limited service at the moment.
Trains are only running between the following stations:
Tonbridge and Orpington via Sevenoaks, Victoria and Kent House, Orpington and London Charing Cross, Cannon Street and Elmers End, Gillingham and London Bridge via Sidcup and via Woolwich.
It is also running services between Ashford and Ramsgate, Ashford and St Pancras, Dover and Ramsgate, Dover and St Pancras, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge and Ashford, Faversham and St Pancras, Ashford and Maidstone East.
On London Overground, a special service is in operation on the Dalston Junction to West Croydon line.
There are eight trains an hour from Dalston Junction with four trains to New Cross and four to New Cross Gate, two of which continue to West Croydon.
No services will run to Crystal Palace.
London Underground are accepting tickets for reasonable routes.
Schools
The majority of schools across the region remain closed again today because of the adverse weather conditions.
In Bexley the weather is still affecting most schools with only Beths Grammar School opening its gates from 10am today.
Details of Barnehurst Infant and Junior Schools are not yet known.
Blackfen School for Girls is advising students to check on its website for information about home learning.
It is closed today but expects to reopen on Monday when year 11 Art mocks and French oral examinations will start. Bursted wood Primary School Christmas productions for Years 3, 4 and 5 which were due to take place today will be rescheduled because the school remains closed.
The Friends of Dulverton School Christmas fair which was due to take place tomorrow has been cancelled because of the weather and the school is closed today.
Students at the closed Erith School are advised to check its website for details about working from home.
Harris Academy Falconwood has cancelled its trip to the Food Show London and Haberdashers' Aske's Crayford Academy has cancelled its German market trip as both schools are closed due to the adverse weather conditions.
Our Lady of the Rosary School is closed but the musical theatre nights are expected to still take place.
The school advises people to check its website in case this changes.
Peareswood Primary School has cancelled its fete which was supposed to take place tomorrow and it is closed today.
Year 11 pupils at St Catherine's School for Girls are advised to check its website for home learning assignments.
St Paulinus Primary School is closed today and the school fair has been postponed.
St Peter Chanel Catholic School has moved its Christmas fair to next Thursday afternoon as the school is closed today.
St Stephen's Catholic Primary School remains closed and has rescheduled its nativity play productions to December 14 and 15.
Students at Welling School are encouraged to log on to SAM Learning while the school remains closed.
Secondary schools in Bromley remain closed but Cator Park School will be open via the Lennard Road gate from 9.30am to 1pm for students who want to bring in work completed independently for checking by teachers.
Bromley's primary schools are also mostly closed but Alexandra Junior, Parish C.E. Primary (closing at 2pm), St Vincent's Catholic Primary and Valley Primary are all listed as being open today and Clare House is expected to be open.
The following schools in Lewisham have confirmed they are closed today: Adamsrill Primary School, Ashmead Primary School, Athelney Primary School, Downderry Primary School, Edmund Waller Primary School, Elfrida Primary School, Holy Trinity CE Primary School, Kender Primary School, Lee Manor Primary School, Rangefield Primary School, Sandhurst Infant School, Sandhurst Junior School, St Margaret's Lee CE Primary School, St James' Hatcham CE Primary School, St Joseph's Catholic Primary School.
Baring Primary School is open for all year groups except for nursery.
Trinity, Lewisham, Prendergast-Hilly Fields College, Abbey Manor College and Clyde Nursery School are also closed.
Forest Hill School is open for Year 11 pupils only.
In Greenwich the following schools are listed as being open: Eglinton Primary and Early Years Centre, Eltham C of E, Gordon School, Haimo School, James Wolfe School (open 10am to 3pm), Meridian School, Millennium School, Mulgrave Primary and Children's Centre (open until 3.15pm), Timbercroft School, Waterside School.
