ONE of England's best parks has been given a national award for the third year running.
Twinkle Park, Watergate Street, Deptford, was one of 74 community spaces to be given Green Pennant Status.
A Green Pennant Award recognises quality sites looked after by voluntary and community groups.
During the past year, charity, Twinkle Park Trust has made £17,000 worth of improvements to the green space.
They were funded by South East London Community Fund (SELF), British Trust for Conservation Volunteers and the David Knightley Trust.
A sum of £5,000 from SELF paid for a rain water pond top-up system, which diverts rain water from Rowley House into the park's pond.
Other improvements included a mosaic footpath created by Greenwich Mural Workshop and children from Charlotte Turner Primary School, Benbow Street, Deptford.
Twinkle Park Trust chairman Jim Murray said: "This has given members of the trust a gratifying reward for their work during the past 10 years and their confidence in the ability of people to make a positive contribution to their own neighbourhoods."
