Residents in the surrounding area to Marks and Spencers in Beckenham have received notification of a planning application for M&S to remain open on Sundays in addition to the current six-day opening hours.
When M&S first sought permission to build a store in Beckenham they gave a firm undertaking to residents that they would never open on Sundays.
Apparently the local diocese have agreed to remove the covenant over the store (they own the land).
A local resident of The Crescent is forming an action campaign to object to the application.
