WAR-TIME sweethearts set to celebrate 60 years of marriage say romance is the key.
George and Nerina Tidey, of Deerhurst Close, Longfield, will celebrate their diamond anniversary on Friday.
The pair featured in News Shopper 10 years ago when they were celebrating their 50th anniversary.
They met at a dance in Italy during the Second World War when Mr Tidey was serving with the The London Scottish Regiment.
Married in 1946 in Trieste near the Yugoslav border, the couple returned to Britain soon after and George took up a job with the civil service while Mrs Tidey, now 81, stayed at home to look after their family.
They have had one daughter, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
They are celebrating their anniversary with family and friends at the Hartley Country Club, Culvey Close, Longfield.
Mr Tidey, 85, said: "Nerina is still as beautiful as the moment I met her."
