Finally it’s here! The party season is upon us and your diary is jam packed with Christmas parties and nights on the town, yet you’re not as excited about it as you should be.
Feeling slightly out of touch after your addiction to X Factor has taken over your social life for the last couple of months?
You’re not alone! Luckily Jed Hamill from GWI is here to give us a little advice on how to get that starlet stunning look and knock ‘em dead this Christmas.
Half hearted
Far from the perfect prefect reputation that it gained so many years ago, the half up do is an uber glam look this party season. Back with vengeance this style is simple yet effective and it’s so easy to create for any hair length.
All you need to do is pull back the top section of your hair back starting from the top of your ears and separate into three sections, one for each side and the top section.
If you have a sweeping fringe then this should be left loose with the ends curled to one side.
Now, with this look your secret weapon is backcombing. Lift up the middle section and backcomb the underneath, but be aware that backcombing is not good for your hair.
Alternatively, use a firm hold hairspray such as Look at Me Delicious boosting hairspray (£9.90 300ml) from Clynol and spray the underneath of the section to give height and pin the hair securely at the back, bringing the other two sections to meet it.
Spritz your do with a little hairspray again to keep in place while leaving the rest of the hair down.
Teamed with straight, wavy or curly hair this look will have you good to go in minutes and will add a little bit of glitz to any outfit.
New young pony club
The simplest of updos is back. Sported by the lovely Lauren Conrad, Nicole Ritchie and Kristen Stewart the ponytail is a lifesaver for that night on the town straight from the office.
You can also dress it up or down and style it in a variety of ways to suit your mood or match your outfit.
If like everybody’s favourite star of The Hills, LC, you want to keep it sleek then opt for a straight ponytail pulled tightly to the centre of the head leaving a strand of hair at the base of the ponytail loose.
Secure into place with a snag band and use the piece of hair that you have left to wrap around the base of your ponytail to cover your band, then hide the ends by pinning them into place at the base of the ponytail.
Keep your do super sleek by gliding over a little smooth silky frizz free shine serum (£9.50 150ml) from Clynol’s Style range once your updo is done to calm any loose ends and give a gorgeous glossy finish to your look.
If you want to add a little bit of glamour to curly hair then why not take a leaf out of Mischa Barton, Taylor Swift and Brittany Snow’s book and go for a side ponytail.
Gorgeous cascading curls look beautiful in this style, effortless chic at its best. Loosely pull all of your hair to one side and secure hair in place with a band, it doesn’t have to be perfect as loose and natural is the look that you want. Keep your curls in check by loosely tonguing the hair before pulling it into place. Whenever using heated styling appliances always take time to protect your hair using a heat protection spray.
This ponytail is ultra feminine so if you want to frame your face then leave a few strands free and go for a slightly undone effect. This is great for round or heart face shapes.
Texturise
Whether your hair is long or short, texture is still huge this season.
Great for the party girl on the go, the effortless bedhead look is still a key trend for fashionista Alexa Chung, Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively and ‘the hair’ of The Saturdays Frankie Sandford.
Depending on your style and length, there’s a textured look that will suit you.
Natural waves are still a strong look not matter what your hair length. So break away from over processing your hair and let your natural texture do the talking. This look is so quick and easy, great for when you literally have to wash and go.
Apply a curl activator such as curl bounce curl fluid (£8.25 100ml) from Clynol’s Style range to towel dried hair, scrunch and either leave to dry naturally or use a defuser nozzle on your hairdryer to give your waves the boost they need.
A classic feminine look, that will bring out your inner rock chick for any occasion.
If your hair is layered or cropped then add a bit of definition by using a texturising powder such as Play with Me Powder Punch texture powder (£10.60 50ml) by Clynol.
This miracle product will transform your hair in a matter of seconds.
Simply pour a small amount into the palm of your hand and it automatically morphs into a paste texture once rubbed between your hands so all you’re left to do if work it through your hair and mess it up as much as you like.
For longer styles add that extra bit of va-va-voom by using this as the foundation of your bedhead look and then spritzing with Matty texturising spray (£10.60 100ml), also from Clynol’s Play with Me range and shape into place using your fingers.
Effortless, sexy and so easy to create.
