A POLICE review into the death of a two-year-old on a Caribbean beach is drawing to a close.
Toddler Paul Gallagher was struck by an out-of-control speedboat in the Bahamas almost four years ago.
Nobody has been prosecuted for his death, even though neither the boat's owners or its driver were licensed, insured or registered.
In February, News Shopper launched a campaign to seek justice for the youngster.
Nearly 1,000 readers signed our petition demanding a Metropolitan Police review into Paul's death.
In April, two senior Met Police detectives were given the green light to review the fatality.
Parents Paul and Andrea Gallagher, of Repton Road, Orpington, say they have been told the review will be complete by the end of this month.
The couple will meet with the Met and the Foreign Office in September.
Mr Gallagher, 41, said: "I get the feeling the Met have achieved whatever they wanted to do out there. We are feeling positive."
The family have also been treated to a four-week Florida holiday courtesy of Virgin entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson, who also backed News Shopper's campaign.
It will be the first foreign holiday for the Gallaghers since Paul's death.
Mr Gallagher said: "We are very grateful to Sir Richard and we are looking forward to spending time together as a family."
