PRINCESS Royal University Hospital’s main car park will be partially closed from Friday (September 17) so building works can take place.

A 500 tonne crane is being brought in to install an air handling unit for the maternity ward expansion programme.

This means part of the car park and pedestrian area will be closed until Sunday (September 19).

People are asked to travel to the PRUH by public transport if possible throughout the three days to ease parking demand.

Buses that normally access the car park will drop off and pick up passengers from the existing bus stops at Sainsbury’s and Farnborough Common (A21).

A free shuttle bus will be running between these bus stops and the main entrance on Friday and during visiting hours on Saturday and Sunday.

The expansion programme involves a second maternity theatre, a larger special care baby unit, a midwifery lead birthing unit and additional ward capacity.
