Bexley Freecycle Group consists of people who would rather recycle special items such as furniture or IT equipment, than throw them away. Open to all Bexley residents, people can post unwanted items on the Freecycle website and give them away to someone else to use. The amphibian and reptile charity Froglife, which is working with Bexley Council at Foots Cray Meadows, is launching a national campaign, Tuppence a Toad, to raise awareness and funds for its Toads on Roads project to protect toads from roadkill. To find out more, go to froglife.org/tuppence/
There is still time to register to run in this year’s Tree-athlon event organised by the environmental charity Trees for Cities. The 5k run is being held in Battersea Park on September 18, with the warm-up starting at 9.30am. All the cash raised goes to tree-planting projects.
