FREE health checks are being offered at the opening of a new health centre.

NHS Greenwich and Evolution Health will be opening the Thamesmead Health Centre, in Thames Reach, Thamesmead, on September 15.

Residents and community groups are being invited to take part in free health MOT checks, which will test for high blood pressure, high sugar levels and poor lung function.

The new centre will offer a variety of health services, including pregnancy care, heart disease care, minor surgery and support for people who want to give up smoking.

It will be open every day from 8am to 8pm.

MP for Erith and Thamesmead, Teresa Pearce, will open the centre.
