A DRUG dealer has been jailed 10 years after he fled to Spain to avoid standing trial.
Gavin Mead was initially arrested in December 2000 after police stopped his van in Highland Road, Bromley.
They found 4kg of cannabis and 1kg of amphetamines in the vehicle.
He was due to stand trial at Croydon Crown Court for drugs offences in March 2001 but he failed to appear.
The former resident of Leamington Close, Bromley, was traced to his address on the Costa Blanca and then flown back from Spain on July 7.
He pleaded guilty to three counts of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs and failing to surrender to police/court bail at Croydon Crown Court last Thursday (September 2).
The 47-year-old was jailed for a total of one year and seven months.
