A GATE will be installed at one end of a road to make Gravesend town centre safer for pedestrians.
The gate will be set up at the western end of Manor Road, outside the Manor Shades pub, at the end of September to stop drivers using the route to avoid the ring-road.
A Gravesham Council spokeswoman said: “The current restrictions ban all traffic between 10.30am and 4.30pm, except vehicles gaining access to properties or to off street parking off Manor Road.
“There is a high level of drivers who fail to abide by these restrictions, often driving through at inappropriate speeds.”
The gate will be closed during the traffic restriction hours of 10.30am to 4.30pm, but deliveries to shops and access to garages will still be allowed.
