A SATURDAY morning running event has come on leaps and bounds in the last 12 months as participants celebrated its first anniversary.
The Bromley parkrun, set up by Bromley Mytime and now run by volunteers, had just 20 or so runners when it began one year ago.
But the 5km event in Norman Park, Bromley, boasted around 150 runners aged from eight to 77 to mark its first birthday.
Tributes were paid to Mytime’s sports and events co-ordinator Ashlee Corfe, who set up the parkrun, with a standing ovation for event director Martin Cunningham for helping make the event a success.
And runners were even treated to celebratory cakes as they crossed the finishing line.
