AN oral history project exploring the relationship between migration, settlement and wellbeing has opened tio the public at Hall Place, in Bourne Road, Bexley.
The project, Minding Histories was compiled by the mental health charity Mind in Bexley, and comprises the stories of 60 people who have left countries such as Nigeria, Burma, Ireland, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, to make their homes in Bexley.
Their migration dates from the present day, back to the 1950s.
The charity explored their experiences, how they adapted to a new country and culture, the obstacles they faced and what effect their move had on their wellbeing Mind in Bexley chief executive David Palmer said: “The stories tell us of the challenges of coping with feelings of loss, isolation, displacement and discrimination and the great acts of courage and resilience hwen building new lives far from home.”
The exhibition lasts until September 30 and admission is free.
