FIREFIGHTERS opened the doors to their station for a day of fire safety demonstrations aimed at preventing blazes in the community.
Thames-side fire station in Coldharbour Road, Northfleet, held its annual free community safety open day on August 28, with a variety of live action-packed displays for the public.
This included firefighters showing how quickly a domestic fire can spread and demonstrating a rescue from a tower, and there were also activities for children.
Thames-side station manager Steve Dunn said: “Our crew demonstrated their wide range of skills with a rescue from the drill-yard tower and cutting a casualty free from a mock road traffic collision.
“However, our main aim was that people heed our safety advice so they will never need to actually call us out.”
