A PIPE fitter has been given a suspended jail sentence after refusing to pay more than £12,000 he owed in council tax.
Kevin O’Farrell, from Gravesend, was given a three month prison sentence, suspended for three months, at Dartford Magistrates’ Court after being found guilty of wilfully refusing to pay council tax.
The 52-year-old owes Gravesham Council £12,105 in council tax dating back to 2004, and the court ordered him to pay the money to the council at £350 per month.
O’Farrell, of The Hedgerows, was taken to the court for the hearing on August 18 after being arrested earlier that morning.
