THERE were medals galore as five centres for people with learning disabilities pitted their athletics skills against each other in the annual inter-borough sports day.
The event, now in its 15th year, involved competitors from Bexley Greenwich and Lewisham and was held at the David Ives Stadium at Erith leisure centre in Avenue Road, Erith.
As well as clients from the Carlton Centre in Sidcup, Smerdon Centre in Belvedere and the Ken Boyce Centre in Slade Green, all in Bexley, there were competitors from Access in Greenwich and the Regard Partnership in Lewisham.
The event was also opened up this year to clients from the MCCH summer holiday scheme.
Around 80 people took part in track races and field events such as javelin, shot putt and long jump.
Athletes who came first, second and third in their events received medals.
The event was jointly organised by Bexley Council and MCCH and sponsored by Parkwood Leisure.
Bexley Athletic Club provided help for the field events.
