CLOSE working relationships are the secret behind Babington House School’s ‘outstanding’ GCSE results.
This is the view of head teacher Deborah Odysseas Bailey speaking after her school’s pupils achieved a 100 per cent pass rate at A*s to Cs and 70 per cent at A* and A.
Eighteen girls took their exams at the school in Grange Drive, Chislehurst, with three of them, Poppy Clifford, Leonora Ryle, Toyosi Taiwoo, getting all A*s.
The pupils will now move on to sixth forms in other schools as the private school only teaches up to GCSE level.
Mrs Odysseas-Bailey said: “This year the results are outstanding [and] for 70 per cent to get A* and A is really impressive.
“Our pupils are encouraged to aim high and recognise the positive relationship they have with the teachers, that we are supportive of them and raise their self esteem.
“If a student struggles in a particular subject then the parents will come to me and work at finding solutions.
“I believe that the relationship with staff is crucial as well as making the lessons as innovative as possible.”
She added: “Nothing gives me more satisfaction than seeing their joy when they receive that piece of paper.
“From their successes [at GCSE] will change the rest of their lives.”
