YOUNG athletes are celebrating after achieving gold at a competition.
Members of the S Factor Academy at Ladywell Arena in Catford have spent seven weeks training for competitions at Sutcliffe Park, Eltham.
The 4 x 100 relay team came first, including John Ikudaisi, aged 15, Troy Jones, Roylon Davis and David Trotman, all aged 14.
Runners in the 4 x 400 relay race also achieved gold including Shyonne Amedee, aged 16, Troy Jones, aged 14, John Ige, and Ebuka Bob-Ume, both aged 15.
Lisa Miller, who set up the academy, said: “It was great to see the transition from training to competition.
"For some, it was their first ever athletics competition and I was impressed with the way they handled it.
"Competing can be scary for even some of the best athletes in the world."
She added: "I was impressed with the way they came together as a team, supported each other and showed good sportsmanship.”
The Academy is designed to provide top-of-the-range coaching and facilities with the aim of helping young athletes reach the world of international athletics.
