A TIME capsule has been buried to commemorate the relationship between a borough and a pharmaceutical giant before it closes its factory.
Dartford Council and GlaxoSmithKline buried the capsule underneath the Henry Wellcome Bandstand in Central Park, Dartford, on Tuesday (August 24).
It is full of memorabilia on the borough, including aerial photographs, and information on GSK, such as a book on Henry Wellcome, who co-founded the drugs giant.
In November 2008 GSK announced it will close its manufacturing site in Dartford by 2013, meaning the loss of around 620 jobs.
A council spokeswoman said: “The ceremony marked the historic connection the council shares with GSK in Dartford, and as the GSK site closes, this will form a legacy for future generations to discover.”
