VOLUNTEERS for a first aid charity have shown their gratitude to football supporters for paying off their debts.
When Crystal Palace Football Club went into administration earlier this year, St John Ambulance was left £16,000 in debt.
Fans of the Selhurst Park club launched an online campaign to raise the cash for the charity, which provides match-day medical cover at the ground.
A giant cheque was handed over to a St John Ambulance team on the pitch at half-time during the match against Ipswich Town.
The organisation’s assistant commissioner operations, Dave Bell, said: “On behalf of St John Ambulance London (Prince of Wales’s) District, I would like to extend a huge thank you to all those who contributed to the funds.”
