A BEXLEY pub has made it into the finals of one of the country’s top pub awards.
The Yacht pub in Long Lane, Bexleyheath, is in the final eight of the best cellar category in this year’s Great British Pub awards run by the industry’s trade magazine the Morning Advertiser.
It has already won the south east category of the competition.
The Yacht’s managers Jason Togwell and Sue Barnes say keeping the cellar clean and in tiptop condition is hard work but worth it to keep the beer in perfect condition.
The cellar was upgraded last year with air conditioning and new drainage and the pair have installed information sheets about beer styles, ingredients and the brewing process, to help their 30-strong staff look after the beers.
The winners will be announced at a London awards ceremony on September 9.
