A DEVELOPER has applied for permission to build 195 new homes in the third phase of a huge housing project.

Gravesham Council’s regulatory board will decide on Moat Housing Group Ltd’s application for Christianfields Avenue in Gravesend at a meeting next Wednesday evening (September 1).

Moat wants to build 141 houses, ranging from two to five bedrooms in size, and four apartment blocks, ranging from three to four storeys in height and containing a total of 54 flats. This is the third phase of the Christianfields development where 208 houses built in the 1970s are being demolished to make way for 427 new homes.

Since 2006, 75 houses have already been built while construction is ongoing on 157 properties. If permission is granted for the extra 195 homes, they are expected to be completed by 2014.
