A 34-YEAR-OLD man has denied the murder of an 88-year-old great-grandmother.
Daniel Franklin, of Felixstowe Road, Abbey Wood, pleaded not guilty when he appeared at the Old Bailey via videolink today (August 25).
He was remanded in custody to face trial on February 14.
Irene Barrett was found with multiple stab wounds at her 15th-floor flat in Valiant House, a high-rise block overlooking Charlton Athletic football stadium, on May 15.
Police say she had also been severely beaten while her home, where she had lived alone for 20 years, was looted for jewellery and cash.
Victoria Cordice, of Little Heath, Charlton, also appeared at the court charged with perverting the course of justice and assisting an offender.
The 30-year-old did not enter a plea and remains on bail.
