BACK office jobs would be axed if Bluewater shoppers were in control of cutting £20m from the Kent Police budget.
Kent Police Authority, which controls the force’s finances, asked people at the shopping centre to vote on which jobs they would axe to reduce the budget over the next three years.
Of the 83 shoppers who took part, 37 per cent said they would reduce the number of back office police officers and 25 per cent voted for cutting the number of back office civilian staff.
These two most popular options were noted by the Authority, which is visiting shopping centres across Kent this summer to ask people how they would make the £20m government enforced savings.
