POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a crash in Plumstead which has left two people critically ill in hospital.
The incident happened at around 10.30pm on Sunday (August 22) when a black Vauxhall Corsa hit a parked white transit van outside the Kings Highway Garage, Kings Highway.
Both the occupants of the Corsa, a 23-year-old woman and the driver, a 22-year-old man, remain in hospital in critical conditions.
The vehicle had been travelling from Plumstead Common Road.
Officers from the Met police’s collision investigation unit based at Catford are investigating what happened and have released two CCTV images which were taken shortly before the crash.
The first shows a dark coloured hatchback and a light-coloured Ford Focus.
The second shows what appears to be a dark silver-coloured people-carrier-type vehicle.
Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Phil Hames said: "These photos were taken from CCTV close to where the incident occurred and the drivers of the cars shown might hold the key to what happened on Sunday night.
"But most importantly as well as these drivers I would really like to speak to a male who stopped at the scene of the collision but left before speaking to police.
"He may also have seen what happened prior to the collision."
Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 020 8285 1574.
