A MOTHER whose son died in a motorbike accident says the vehicle, which was taken from the scene, could hold vital clues to his death.

Brett Roberts, 32, of Grove Park, died in hospital of his injuries following a collision on the Isle of Sheppey on August 5.

His mother Lenore Fiorincelli, 50, has appealed for those who took the 125cc bike to hand it into police.

She said: “It is possible that the bike was defective, which had caused the accident and could be a reason why Brett lost control of it.

“I would ask those who took it to please co-operate with the police, as they need to gather information for my son's inquest and protect the public from further harm.”

Paying tribute to her son, she said: “He loved life, he loved music and socialising with his friends. Equally, he loved watching movies or playing board games with his family, but his passion was fishing, he was so kind and gentle with the catch.”

Mr Roberts, an organ donor, worked in Greenwich with people affected by drug and alcohol abuse and helped set up Narcotics Anonymous meetings.

At the time of his death he was working as a swimming pool lifeguard in the borough.

Ms Fiorincelli said: “Brett knew the rules but just had a silly lapse in judgement when he got on that bike without a helmet and I would urge others not to take the risk.”
