A KEEN gardener has dug his way to success in a horticultural competition.
Deputy Leader of Swanley Town Council Councillor Robert Woodbridge, of Garrolds Close, Swanley, entered the Bexleyheath and District Horticultural Society Show on August 21 after growing his vegetables for more than three months in his allotment in Dartford.
More than 40 people entered the competition, held in the Boys Brigade Hall in Broadway, Bexleyheath, and Cllr Woodbridge won first place for the biggest sweetcorn, marrows, parsnips and beetroot.
He said: “It's good to win and it makes you feel happy that all the hard work you do brings results.
“Entering the show is a bit of fun just to see what could happen and to support the horticulture society.”
