A RETIRED couple are celebrating after winning a gardening competition for the third year in a row.
The Greenwich in Bloom competition featured four categories including front gardens with colourful summer plants, front gardens with best landscape design and window boxes or hanging baskets.
Phyllis Duignan, aged 69, and her 73-year-old husband Tony won the best back garden award for their home in Gourock Road, Eltham.
It features marigolds, geraniums, begonias and petunias.
Mr Duignan said: “I try to pick plants which will flower throughout the year so it is always pleasing to look at.”
The couple, who have two grandchildren, say they will not be entering the competition again.
Winners will receive their prizes at Woolwich Town Hall on September 27.
