OLYMPIC diver Blake Aldridge is trying to rebuild his life after being cleared of attacking a security guard.

He was charged with common assault after an incident at Tesco, Croydon Road, Elmers End, on February 19.

But Mr Aldridge, of Shirley Road, Beckenham, spent just nine minutes in the dock at Bromley Magistrates Court on August 18 before this charge was dismissed through lack of evidence.

He said: “I’m pleased that I have been cleared.

“But I should not have been in that situation in the first place.

“It has ruined me financially, it has hurt my diving career and my reputation.”

The 28-year-old now hopes to be able to restart his work of going into schools to inspire children to do sports.
