THE MAN who caused the death of a “much valued” nurse has been sentenced.
Daniel Wellard, 30, from Augustine Road, Minster-on-Sea, was disqualified from driving for 12 months after admitting the death by careless driving of Deborah Lawson, a nurse at Darent Valley Hospital.
He was also given a community order of 100 hours unpaid work over 12 months and ordered to pay £85 court costs at Sittingbourne Magistrates Court on August 13.
Director of Nursing at Dartford & Gravesham NHS Trust, Jenny Kay, said: “Debbie had been a much valued member of staff, who had worked for many years as a Sister in the Radiology Department.
“All who knew her were devastated to hear about her tragic and untimely death in October last year.
“Her colleagues’ sympathies go out to Debbie’s family at this time, and they appreciate how difficult the court case must have been for them.”
