FROM next month, a town square will be closed to the public for major refurbishment work.
General Gordon Square in Woolwich will be shut from early September while work takes place on a water feature, new terraces, seating and footpaths as well as new trees, shrubs and new lighting.
But people will still be able to access Charter Market in Beresford Square during building works there.
The work is part of a £6.6m project to redevelop the two squares.
Work is set to be completed next spring.
The project is being funded through the Government’s Homes and Communities Agency, Transport for London and developers.
