THE family of a young woman who died wants to donate her specialist wheelchair to help give a disabled child more independence.
Laura Buxton was born on May 30, 1986, problems including having organs on the wrong side of her body, spina bifida, and an abnormal heart.
She was never expected to reach adulthood but the former pupil of Marjorie McClure School, Hawkwood Lane, Chislehurst, battled until her death at the age of 24.
For the last three years of her life she used a Quantum 610 wheelchair which the family managed to pay for through fundraising and donations from News Shopper readers.
Her sister Beth, of Puffin Close, Beckenham, said: “It should go back to this community because they are the ones that helped us get it.
“And we would like to say thank you again to everyone who donated money and we’re hoping now by donating the wheelchair we can help someone else.”
The 20-year-old added: “But it will not be suited to everyone as Laura was small so we are talking child sized.”
Laura died in hospital on August 8 and her funeral will take place at Beckenham Crematorium on August 27 at 1.30pm.
Everyone who wants to attend is asked to not wear all black but to wear a bright colour as well.
Flowers or donations to Royal Brompton Hospital are optional and cheques should be made payable to Royal Brompton and Harefield Charity and sent to J & R Killick Ltd funeral directors, 112 High Street, West Wickham.
