A LAKE where around 1,000 fish died has reopened again.
Thamesmead’s Southmere Lake had become infested with blue green algae which reacted with the warm weather, wiping out carp, bream, tench and eels .
Checks had been in place since June 24, meaning the waters were not open to anglers or boats.
But a spokesman for Gallions said recent tests showed reduced algae levels, allowing it to be reopened.
Monitoring of the lake will continue throughout this month.
He said: “Marginal planting has been highlighted as one of a number of methods to combat the algae.
“We work closely with the Environment Agency and will be considering their ongoing advise and the views of all stakeholders to determine future management of the facility. “
