A MIDWIFE has organised a sponsored walk to raise funds for the Nigerian maternity clinics where she volunteered.
Jo Watts, aged 44, who works at Darent Valley Hospital, volunteered at Wish For Africa’s clinics in Lagos last summer and has now organised a fundraising walk for the charity.
It will take place at 10am on August 28, with walkers heading along the Thames path from the Morrisons supermarket in Twin Tumps Way, Thamesmead, to Woolwich Skate Park in Warren Lane.
Money raised will be used to buy equipment, and Mrs Watts, of Milroy Avenue in Northfleet, said: “Nigeria has the second highest maternal death rate in the world, so any help we can give is vital.”
