A GROUP of men accused of an attack which left a British holidaymaker in a coma have been bailed after they were extradited to Greece last week.

Curtis Taylor, 20, Daniel Bell, 21, Sean Branton, 20, all from Horley, Benjamin Herdman, 20, from Worth and George Hollands, 22, from Reigate in Surrey, insist they are innocent.

The men face allegations of causing grievous bodily harm to former Bromley FC and Welling United footballer Robbie Hughes who was attacked outside a Crete nightclub in June 2008.

They were flown to Greece last week after they lost their extradition appeal to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg and the UK's Supreme Court.

The men will be allowed to return to the UK once sureties ranging from €3,000 (£2,480) to €12,000 (£9,921) have been paid.

The trial is not expected to take place until at least next year.

Mr Hughes, of Wallington, now suffers from a brain injury and ten-year memory loss because of the assault.

He was in a Greek hospital for three months undergoing a series of brain operations but has now recovered to the extent that he is playing football again.
