A GROUP of people with learning difficulties has just seen its DVD premiered at a London cinema.
The Advocate 4 Health project is run by Bexley and Bromley Advocacy, funded by London Councils and covers six London boroughs including Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich.
The DVD, Healthy Living, was funded by the Big Lottery and took six months to put together with members taking on all the production roles.
They chose to highlight health issues involving people with learning disabilities by using a mixture of case studies and sketches by a profession mime artist.
Among the studies were Bexley’s Respect in Bexley which has been training GPs on working with people with learning disabilities, the Magpie Dance group in Bromley and the Farm Project in Greenwich which grows vegetables.
People from across London attended the premiere at the Brixton Ritzy and 30 free copies of the DVD will be given to each of the boroughs involved.
People can also by copies through Bexley and Bromley Advocacy on 020 8300 9666.
