A COUPLE who helped a rape victim escape her attacker are being asked to come forward by police.
It follows an incident on July 21 in Argyll Road, Woolwich, at around 10.15pm when a 24-year-old woman, who had just been raped at knifepoint, managed to run out of a house away from her attacker.
Police say a black man and white woman who were in a car stopped to help her, dropping the victim off at Woolwich Arsenal station at around 10.30pm.
Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the victim in the road or when the couple stopped to assist her.
In particular, they would especially like to speak with the man and woman who stopped to help the victim.
Detective Constable Peter Thompson, from the Met’s Sapphire unit, said: “We would really like to hear from this couple who bravely and kindly took this victim away from danger, after she had suffered a terrible ordeal.
“It is important for the investigation that we speak to them and get as much information as we can from them that can help us catch the violent offender who raped this woman."
Anyone with information should call the unit on 020 8284 9395.
