WITH the ukulele enjoying an unexpected surge in popularity, enthusiasts of George Formby’s favourite instrument are holding a jam night in Bexley.
The night, organised by The Ukulaviators Ukulele Club, takes place at the Old Wick pub in Vicarage Road, Bexley Village on August 24 from 8pm.
Players can just turn up with their instrument and printed copies of any particular songs they would like to play, and join in a jam session with other players.
Club founder Steve Ball hopes to make the night a regular event, with jam sessions every other Tuesday at the pub.
He said: “Similar nights to those we are planning for the Old Wick, are popping up all over the country, but the nearest ones are either in London, Tunbridge Wells or Maidstone.”
