A ROAD safety worker has received an award for setting up a poetry initiative to help youngsters travel to school.
Daniel Beckett’s Poetry in Motion has been such a success in Bromley that it is being rolled out to 11 other London boroughs.
The scheme asked pupils to write poems about their walk to school, weaving writing and language skills around important themes of road safety awareness.
Mr Beckett was presented with the Laurie Bunn Road Safety Award by television presenter Nick Ross, who is President of the London Road Safety Council.
The 30-year-old, who is Bromley Council’s school travel plan acting team leader, said: “I’m very chuffed to get this recognition.”
