AS Britain marks the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain this summer, there will be a rare chance to meet some of The Few who fought the Germans in the skies over the UK.
A partnership between Shoreham Aircraft Museum and Ruxley Manor Garden Centre will see seven Second World War pilots at the garden centre, in Maidstone Road, Sidcup, recounting their experiences and signing memorabilia.
The event, from 11am until 4pm on August 28, will see the whole day given over to the 1940s, with a Spitfire Mark Nine plane, period Jeeps and re-enactors, 1940s vehicles from the Detonators Hot Rod Car Club with drivers in costume, aviation books, a display of work by aviation artist and museum founder Geoff Nutkins, RAF cadets and children’s activities.
Admission is free and all proceeds will go to the museum’s memorials project.
