A DIAMOND wedding anniversary is nothing for a couple who have celebrated an incredible 70 years together.
Harry and Alice Noble, who have two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, were married at a church in Mile End in 1940.
Mr Noble, 95, a former cabinet maker who fought in India in the Second World War, and Mrs Noble, a 94-year-old former nursery worker, moved to Gwillim Close, Sidcup, 20 years ago.
A party organised by daughter Pat Pearce, was held at Northbourne Court care home, Harland Avenue, Sidcup, where Mr Noble is living.
Mrs Noble, who got a letter from the Queen, said: “I always joke that we give and take. He gives and I take.
“Really, we’re lucky and we count our blessings.”
