A SCOUT group have been working hard to help restore and clean a war memorial.
The monument, at St Mildred Church in St Mildred's Road, Grove Park, had been neglected for many years and the names inscribed on the stone were fading away.
Work has now been completed to re-inscribe the names with the help of the 9th Lewisham North Scout Group who volunteered to clean the stone and surrounding area.
Cash was awarded from Lewisham Council’s Mayor’s Fund, which provides £50,000 to each local assembly over two years for community projects.
The Grove Park assembly awarded £1,900 to Crowley Memorials to restore the war memorial, which was unveiled in 1921 to honour men who died in conflicts between 1914 and 1945.
