THERE were on average more than 200 parking fines issued each day in the Bromley borough last year.
Figures released today by London Councils show 76,320 penalty charge notices were given out in Bromley in 2009/10 compared with 80,512 in 2008/9 - a fall of more than five per cent.
Tickets issued by Bromley Council and TfL were for illegal parking, driving in bus lanes and moving traffic contraventions.
Across London the overall number of parking penalties has dropped by 11 per cent in the last year to around 4.8 million.
Chair of London Councils’ transport and environment committee Councillor Catherine West said: “The recession has meant traffic levels are down so there is less pressure on parking spaces and less illegal parking.”
